I am humbled by the overwhelming response I received from my introduction email last week. If you missed it, it is available here.
Many of you wished me luck and most of you wanted to know more details about my vision & strategy and I thank you for your interest.
Before we go into my vision & goals for the district, let us pause for a moment to think. As one of the district officers, I know we often say "You are doing a wonderful job" and there is no doubt that you are. But do you ever say that district is doing a wonderful job.
We have had good leadership in our district over the years I've been in Toastmasters. But I sincerely believe I can bring radical changes and leap and bounds improvements to the district that will not only accelerate the district to number one district in the world, but which will also make individual club members feel connected at their level to the larger Toastmasters organization.
My vision is that...
- District serves every member to achieve his/her full potential in communication & Leadership, and
- Each & every member feels part of a district team bringing the president distinguished district award every year for next five years.
My objective for the district next year is a realistic one, to be in the top 5 districts.
To achieve this, we will have 2 simple district-wide goals for our members:
1. DCP Goal: 75% of (225 clubs * 10 goals) = appx. 1700 goals.
(Historically we have not achieved even 50% of goals.)
2. Membership Goal: Mere 1% increases in active membership every month (12.5% annual).
(TI needs minimum 2% annual.)
We will directly involve each & every member working on these goals. We will be publishing a monthly scorecard/dashboard of district progress so all divisions, area, clubs and individual members know how they personally are involved in accomplishing the overall goals of the district.
We will streamline email communications through a new role I'm calling the information officer and radically improve organizational efficiencies by taking advantage of technology for TLI, contests, conferences and communication, etc.
Yes, things have been good in our district. But I truly believe they can be extraordinarily great. I know that I can overcome this disconnection through more effective communication, powerful use of technology and using a measured goal-oriented approach. I have a plan.
Please visit my website http://www.SanjayForToastmasters.com and look for future emails to see the details of the plan.
I look forward to hear from you and also for the opportunity to come to your clubs to discuss/inform more about what we will do different. Simply email (Sanjay@SanjayForToastmasters.com) or call me.
Regards,
Sanjay.
